How prompt tracking works step by step
1. Add your prompts Go to AI Visibility in the sidebar. Click Add Prompt. Enter the query you want to track. This can be anything your customers might ask.
2. Select AI platforms Choose which AI platforms to check that prompt on. You can track across multiple platforms at once.
3. Wait for the first check SnowSEO sends your prompt to each selected AI platform and records the response. The first check happens on your next scheduled refresh.
4. Review results The dashboard shows whether your brand appeared, where it ranked in the response, what sources were cited, and the sentiment of the mention.
How often are prompts refreshed
The refresh interval depends on your plan:
Starter: Every 15 days
Pro: Every 7 days
Scale plans: Every 1 day
This means if you are on Starter and add a prompt today, it will be checked again in 15 days. On Scale, it is checked again tomorrow.
Can I change my refresh interval without upgrading?
No. The refresh interval is tied to your plan tier. To get a shorter interval, you need to upgrade to a higher tier.
Can I manually refresh a prompt before the scheduled time?
Yes. You can manually refresh any individual prompt on demand. This costs AI credits each time you do it. Each platform response costs 25 credits, so refreshing one prompt across 8 platforms costs 200 credits.
Manual refresh is useful when:
You just published new content and want to see if it changed your visibility
A competitor made a move and you want immediate data
Your scheduled refresh is still far away and you cannot wait
There is a rate limit of 40 manual refreshes per minute to prevent abuse.
Which AI platforms can I track
SnowSEO checks your prompts across:
ChatGPT
Perplexity
Grok
Meta AI
DeepSeek
Google AI Overviews
Google AI Mode
Gemini
Which models my plan includes
Not every plan can access every AI model. Higher tiers unlock access to more providers.
This is because some models are significantly more expensive to run. All models use a fixed number of credits per response, so access to more expensive models is limited on lower tiers to keep plans feasible.
We are exploring a model where you can choose any provider regardless of tier. This would give more flexibility while keeping costs sustainable.
BYOK
BYOK means Bring Your Own Key. Instead of using SnowSEO's AI infrastructure and credit system, you would connect your own API keys from OpenAI, Anthropic, or other providers.
This is planned but not available yet. When it launches, you will be able to use your own API keys for prompt tracking and article generation, which could be more cost-effective for heavy users.
What does position mean in my results
When your brand appears in an AI response, SnowSEO records its position:
Position 1: Your brand is mentioned first or is the primary recommendation
Position 2 to 5: Your brand is mentioned among the top options
Position 6+: Your brand appears but is not a primary recommendation
Lower position numbers are better. If you consistently appear in positions 2 to 5, small content improvements could push you to position 1.
Can I track competitors too
Yes. When you add prompts, SnowSEO automatically detects which brands appear in the responses. You do not need to manually add competitors to the prompt.
The dashboard shows:
Which competitors appeared for the same prompt
Their share of voice vs yours
Whether their visibility is growing or declining
Add prompts that include competitor brand names to see how AI platforms position you against specific rivals.
