Page Speed Insights vs Website Audit
Website Audit checks technical SEO, content quality, and GEO factors. Page Speed Insights specifically tests how fast your pages load.
What Page Speed Insights measures
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): how fast the main content loads
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): whether elements jump around while loading
Interaction to Next Paint (INP): how quickly the page responds when someone interacts with it. This replaced First Input Delay as a Core Web Vital in 2024
An overall performance score from 0 to 100
How to access it
Go to On-Page SEO -> Page Speed Insights. You need:
At least one completed Website Audit crawl
The Google PageSpeed Insights integration connected in Settings -> Integrations -> SEO & AI Tools
Page Speed runs do not consume your page audit allowance, and they do not use AI credits. They use Google's free PageSpeed API.
Why this matters
Google uses page speed as a ranking signal. Slow pages rank worse, and users leave before they load. Fix performance issues before fixing meta descriptions.
Excluding pages from audits
You might want to skip certain pages:
Admin panels or login pages
User-generated content you cannot control
Staging or test environments
Pages behind paywalls
How to exclude
Go to Settings -> Automation -> On-Page SEO. Add full page URLs to the Excluded URLs list, and use Bulk add to paste several at once, one per line. The crawler skips these entirely.
Excluded pages do not count against your page audit allowance, so this is also the simplest way to make a limited allowance go further on a large site.
Exporting audit reports
You can download your audit data to share with developers, clients, or team members.
What you can export
A full site audit overview (PDF)
Individual page audit reports (PDF)
Up to 10 audited pages per export
How to export
Click the Export button in the audit dashboard and choose PDF. The report includes scores, issue lists, and fix recommendations.
Use this to hand technical fixes to a developer, or to include SEO status in a client report. If you need fully branded client reporting, the Report Builder and white label options on Scale plans are a better fit.
Tracking changes between audits
Every audit is a fresh snapshot. Your Site Health Score changes when:
You fix issues, so the score goes up
New issues appear, so the score goes down
You add or remove pages from the audit scope
Google updates its guidelines and our scoring adjusts
How to see what changed
Check the Issues Changed section in your latest audit report. It shows new issues, fixed issues, and anything that got better or worse.
If your score dropped but you did not change anything, check for broken outbound links, removed third-party scripts, or external sites you link to that went down.
