How to untrack a keyword

If you no longer want to monitor a keyword:

  • Go to Rank Tracking

  • Find the keyword in your list

  • Click the Untrack button

The keyword stops being monitored immediately. Its historical data is preserved, but no new ranking checks run for it.

Why untrack

  • The keyword is no longer relevant to your business

  • You reached your plan limit and need to make room

  • The keyword has not improved after months of effort

  • You accidentally added a keyword you did not mean to track

Untracking frees up a slot in your keyword limit so you can track something else.

What happens when you reach your keyword limit

Each plan has a maximum number of tracked keywords:

  • Starter: 50

  • Pro: 150

  • Scale 1: 300

  • Scale 2: 600

  • Scale 3: 1,000

  • Scale 4: 2,000

When you reach your limit, you cannot add new keywords until you:

  • Untrack existing keywords to free up slots

  • Upgrade to a higher plan with a larger limit

Keyword rank tracking does not use AI credits. The limit is based on your plan tier alone.

How to export your ranking data

You can download your keyword rankings for reporting or analysis.

What you can export

  • All tracked keywords with current positions

  • Position changes over time

  • Country and device data

  • Competitor comparisons

How to export

Click the Export button in the Rank Tracking toolbar. Choose your format and date range. The export includes all visible data based on your current filters.

Use this for client reports, team updates, or importing into spreadsheets for custom analysis.

What does N/A mean for position

If a keyword shows N/A instead of a number, it means one of two things:

  • Your site does not currently rank in the top 100 results for that keyword

  • The keyword is brand new and has not been checked enough times yet

If it stays N/A after 1 week

  • Check whether you have any content targeting that keyword

  • Verify the keyword is not too broad or competitive for your current authority

  • Consider creating a dedicated article or page for it

If it was ranking before but now shows N/A

  • The page might have been de-indexed

  • A technical issue might be blocking the page

  • Google might have penalized the page for quality issues

Run a Website Audit on the page to check for technical problems.

How to move keywords between topics

Keywords can be organized into Topic Clusters for better tracking.

To add a keyword to a topic

  • Open the keyword details

  • Click Add to Topic

  • Select the topic cluster

  • The keyword now contributes to that topic's authority score

To remove from a topic

  • Open the keyword details

  • Click Remove from Topic

  • The keyword continues to be tracked for rankings but no longer counts toward that topic cluster

Keywords can belong to one topic at a time. Moving a keyword updates your Topical Authority score immediately.
